Your foundation
A degree from the JBK is a first-class foundation for your professional success. We stand for a holistic musical education. This means that in addition to comprehensive practical skills in your main subject, you will also acquire a wide range of knowledge in the areas of music theory, music history, music aesthetics and theory of form - from classical to jazz to popular music. This will prepare you optimally for the most diverse requirements of the professional world.

Your studies at the JBK
The requirements for your studies are an intermediate school-leaving certificate, knowledge of German and an entrance examination at the JBK.
You can complete degrees in two branches of study at the JBK:
Our postgraduate courses
If you have already completed a degree at another music institute, we also offer postgraduate courses in both branches. In our artistic branch, you can acquire the artistic maturity or the concert maturity. In our pedagogical branch, you can obtain a state-certified music teacherqualification.

- A secondary school leaving certificate (intermediate school leaving certificate or equivalent)
- German language skills B1 (A2 if you already have a Bachelor's, Master's or
