After 10 semesters you will be ready for a career as:

  • Soloist
  • Companion
  • Ensemble member in a chamber orchestra

  • Repetiteur in independent work or at opera houses
  • Choir singers in concert choirs (e.g. at radio stations or operas)

What do I learn?

You will receive intensive tuition in your main subject. If you choose singing, you will also learn Italian and be taught Italian and German phonetics.
In addition, you will receive a comprehensive musical education - from music theory to instrumental studies, music history and form theory, ornamentation, but also chamber music playing, choral conducting and music aesthetics through to a theoretical and practical introduction to jazz and popular music.
This gives you a broad base and prepares you well for a wide range of job requirements.

What do I learn?

You will receive intensive tuition in your main subject.

Orchestral conducting or choral conducting: you will learn to develop your own creative ideas for a piece of music and to communicate your ideas to an ensemble. Technically convincing and effective collaboration with an ensemble is also part of your studies. This is the only way your inspiration can bring the musical essence of a work to life for the audience.

Composition: You will study music theory, music history and music aesthetics in depth. In the intensive examination of existing compositions, you will find your own distinctive musical language and mature into an individual compositional personality.

Music theory: You will acquire a profound knowledge of style through intensive theory of composition and aural training, theory of form, work analysis and other musicological lectures and exercises. The training in instrumentation/arrangement and academic work will open up a wide range of careers for you, e.g. in broadcasting, music editorial offices and feature pages or in music publishing. With additional pedagogical courses, you can focus on a career in the field of music education.
