For whom?

The special didactic and pedagogical focus of this degree program prepares you optimally for the profession of music teacher in 8 semesters.

What do I learn?

You will be introduced to all the topics that you will encounter when dealing with your students. On a theoretical level, your focus will be on educational psychology and developmental psychology: How does learning work? How does memory work? What makes for good motivation and much more. On a practical level, you will work on a variety of everyday situations in individual and group music lessons.

Of course, you will also receive comprehensive musical training: Your timetable will also include music theory, instrument studies, music history and theory of form, ornamentation, chamber music playing, choral conducting, music aesthetics as well as a theoretical and practical introduction to jazz and popular music.

This means you are ideally prepared for the different requirements of the job.

For whom?

This 8-semester course prepares you in particular for working with children of pre-school age and in early music education. It is also very helpful for working with adults who have no previous musical knowledge.
You can also choose Elementary Music Education as a specialization for the Music Education degree course or combine the two to broaden your knowledge.

What do I learn?

At the heart of elementary music education are movement, sound, rhythm and an extended, open concept of music. EMP is aimed at people of all ages. Shared experience and free improvisation in the group are the essential basis. Musical experimentation awakens creativity and promotes personal development. Your future professional fields are diverse. You can use your skills in educational institutions and childcare facilities as well as in music schools or music kindergartens.
In the EMP, we also teach you comprehensive musical knowledge in the subjects of music theory, instrumentology, music history and form theory, ornamentation, chamber music playing, choral conducting and music aesthetics. You will also receive a theoretical and practical introduction to jazz and popular music.
